Nepomnyashchaya Varvara is a pianist who uses her musical intelligence in order to serve a faithful interpretation of the works of each composer. Varvara works with determination, energy and sincerity making every concert an artistic experience. She cultivates a repertoire from all periods and styles, from Bach and Händel to Stravinsky and Arvo Pärt.
Born in Moscow, she studied at the Gnessin Music School and continued her studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Mikhail Voskressensky. She later moved to Hamburg for further study with Evgeny Koroilov. In 2006 she was awarded the Leipzig Bach Competition and in 2012 and won the first prize at the Geza Anda piano competition in Zurich, a fact that gave a decisive boost to her career.
She has collaborated with such prestigious orchestras as the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre, Chamber Orchestra of Vienna, Tonhalle Zurich, Vienna Symphony Orchestra Radio, Chamber Orchestra of Zurich and the Orchestra Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, acting under the direction of Valery Gergiev, David Zinman, Cornelius Meister and Clemens Schuldt. She has given numerous recitals in Lucerne, Madrid, Moscow, Alicante, Lyon, Saint Petersburg, Girona, Hamburg, Valencia, Lausanne, Zurich and Dortmund, among others.
For this next 2015/216 season she will play the Tchaikovsky concerto with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, Scriabin's Prometheus with the National Orchestra of Polish Radio and the Mozart Piano Concerto Number 21 with the Royal Philharmonic of Galicia and the Medtner Piano Quintet with the Schumann Quartet. She will give recitals at the Mariinsky Hall of Saint Petersburg, Palau de la Música in Barcelona (Ibercamera), Teatro Principal in Vitoria, National Auditorium in Madrid (La Filarmónica), Torino Lingotto Auditorium (Lingotto Música), Philharmonie de Paris and the Conservatorio "G.Verdi" di Milano.
